Our Story
Compass Philanthropy’s Founder and President, Joanna McCarthy has spent her career serving philanthropic clients and industry leaders in major gift fundraising. Her superpower is bringing together like-minded donors with deserving organizations in need, creating synergy, strategy, and dynamic results.
Joanna began her career in Brandeis University’s Office of Advancement. She was recruited to Babson College and Lasell University, where she worked in support of the Presidents in both Prospect Research and Corporate, Foundation and Government Relations roles. Joanna moved on to work in Major Gifts, fostering strategic relationships with donors while successfully securing 7 figure+ gifts. An expert in capital campaign planning, strategy and management, Joanna is known for her ability to closely steward existing donor relations while uncovering new fundraising prospects from newly discovered sources.
